Overview

RiverWoods Manchester is currently hiring for a Fitness Coordinator to come and join our Fitness Team

 

The primary role of the Fitness Coordinator is developing and managing fitness and wellness programs for the residents and Staff of RiverWoods Manchester. This is a Full Time position at 32 hours per week. Within established company and departmental policies and procedures, the RiverWoods Manchester Fitness Coordinator performs the following functions:

Responsibilities

  • Teaches group fitness classes for residents (Independent Living [IL] and Assisted Living [AL]) and staff to improve strength, flexibility, cardiovascular conditioning, or general fitness of participants such as but not limited to, Strength and Balance, Yoga, Zumba®, Zumba Gold®, Aerobics, Stretching, Functional Training, etc 
  • Contributes to an active, healthy culture for all RiverWoods residents by working within the inter-disciplinary team and providing feedback related to their physical well-being.
  • Develop marketing campaigns to promote a healthy lifestyle and participation in fitness and wellness programs.
  • Demonstrate proper operation of fitness equipment, such as resistance machines, cardio machines, free weights, weight machines, exercise bicycles, benches, hand weights, and fitness assessment devices.
  • Recommend new program or service offerings to promote wellness and fitness that may produce revenues or minimize costs.
  • Provides quality customer service with a positive attitude and commitment to safe and effective performance of various kinds of physical exercise. Supports all aspects of the RiverWoods Manchester community.
  • Research off-site fitness options ensuring a diversity of offerings.
  • Track attendance, participation, or performance data related to wellness events.
  • Conducts periodic needs assessments or surveys to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, wellness and fitness programs, events, or services.
  • Collaborates with Social Event Coordinators (IL and AL) to plan fitness programs such as an organized walk, Kayaking trip, hike, etc.
  • Teams up with Dining Program to promote nutritious dining options for residents.
  • Manage and oversee fitness equipment; ensuring safety and cleanliness. Maintain and arrange for maintenance/repair of equipment or facilities.
  • Personal Training

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field of study, or commensurate experience.
  • 2 – 5 years working with the senior population.
  • Fitness certification can include ACE, AFAA, other.
  • Ability to communicate complex training principles in a clear and concise manner.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field of study, or commensurate experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with the senior population.
  • Experience working in an Independent Living and Assisted Living environment.
  • FAI, NSCA, NASM certification.
  • First Aid, CPR certified.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and leading Outdoor Adventure opportunities. Opportunities can include kayak trips, hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc.
